We don't hide a thing in our products. Do you want to know what some of the long foreign looking ingredients names mean?
GLYCERIN: Glycerin is derived from plant sugars. It is a humectant and helps to absorb moisture. It also helps to keep skin supple, it is a building block of all fats and oils. Glycerin is an excellent humectant and moisturiser that regulates the absorption and release of water in the skin.
CITRIC ACID: Citric Acid is a natural substance produced in various amounts by all types of citrus fruits. Common natural sources of the ingredient include lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruits. It's chemical properties are beneficial in skin care products. In its raw state, citric acid is to adjust the pH of skin care products. Adding the ingredient to a formula makes it slightly more acidic and can help other ingredients in our products function more optimally.
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT: Olive leaves are antiviral, anti-fungal, and anti-inflammatory and is said to contain double the antioxidants than green tea.
JOJOBA OIL/WAX: The structure of jojoba oil closely resembles that of your own skin sebum, your skin's own lubricating medium. It is easily absorbed without making the skin feel greasy. This amazing oil does not leave you with blocked pores. It is known to have exceptional skin softening propities, as well as the ability to help minimize fine lines and wrinkles, promoting skin suppleness while assisting with the rejuvenation of the skin.
SHEA BUTTER: Shea Butter is the natural fat extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree. The nut is gathered, cold pressed and refined to form a soft paste, known as Shea Butter. Shea Butter is a plant-based emollient that mimics the lipid content of the skin. It is known to work wonders on dry and dehydrated skin.
GLYCERYL STEARATE: This ingredient acts as a lubricant on the skin's surface, this gives the skin a soft and smooth appearance. It also slows the loss of water from the skin by forming a barrier on the skin's surface
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT: The extract is known to help to boost the overall health of your skin and helps to shield it from potentially damaging environmental factors. It’s also known to moisturise and help dry, cracked skin.
CETEARYL OLIVATE: This ingredient comes in the form of an oily wax. It is used as a emulsifier and is a safer option than petroleum-based emulsifiers for blending ingredients in our skin care products. Cetearyl olivate can help soften skin and gives the product a smooth, silky feel and it’s great moisturiser.
SORBITAN OLIVATE: This ingredient is a surfactant (offers a lathering effect) and a humectant (water-retaining) properties. Combined, cetearyl olivate and sorbitan olivate help mix oil and water-based ingredients and aid in softening and lubricating the skin, so it can hold in moisture.
What do these words mean?
SURFACTANTS: Ever wondered what creates all that lovely foam and lather in your personal care products? The ingredients are known as Surfactants, which are put in your products, to help to break down oils and fats from our skin.
HUMECTANT: A humectant attracts and retains the moisture in the air nearby via absorption, drawing the water vapour into and/or beneath the organism/object's surface.
